It’s important to be upfront about your vision and values, and to share a passion for the business idea. Set clear goals with specific metrics (KPIs) together so that you agree what you’re working towards.

For me, trust is everything. So anything that leads you to distrust someone is a major red flag. That could be:

Poor work ethic: lacking commitment and not doing what they need to
Incompatible vision and values: differing viewpoints is fine, but not opposing values
Unreliability: you have to trust that your partner will deliver on agreed tasks.

Be really clear from the outset about the details of your new business partnership. Draw up a partnership agreement outlining roles, responsibilities, business structure, finances like shared profits, and exit strategies. Then you’ll need a smart business plan.
If you’re one person in charge of a small business, make sure you’re ready to share ownership of your ‘baby’.
